The Academy Archives is a watchdog providing transparency of the nation's military academies. We monitor each academy's Board of Visitors (BOV) meetings and weigh in on the most pressing issues, holding them accountable to fulfill their oversight duties.

Unfortunately, many records kept by the academy BOVs, including their annual reports, are not easily accessible to the public. Despite federal requirements, these reports often languish in internal reviews or remain unposted, creating a significant gap in institutional accountability.

The Academy Archives aims to collect and post BOV records online in one easily accessible place. Read the most recent BOV reports we were able to find below.

What is a Board of Visitors?
The Congressional Watchdog for Military Academies

Each U.S. military service academy is overseen by a Board of Visitors (BOV) — a body of senior civilian and military officials appointed by Congress and the President. By law, each BOV is required to visit its respective academy annually and report to the President on the state of morale, discipline, curriculum, instruction, and the physical and financial condition of each institution.

Despite this legal mandate, many BOV annual reports are never publicly posted — creating a significant gap in institutional accountability. The Academy Archives monitors BOV activities and publishes reports as they become available, keeping the public informed about the oversight — or lack thereof — at America's premier military institutions.

If you have access to BOV reports, meeting transcripts, or other academy documents not listed here, please submit them anonymously.
