The Academy represents a diverse American population, and its makeup as an organization should reflect the nation's diversity, Marks said.
"We're all on the same team, and nothing erodes trust and performance faster than disrespecting the dignity of your teammates," Marks said. "Diversity at the Academy enriches the cadet experience by exposing them to various viewpoints and experiences. Diversity in the Cadet Wing also prepares our leaders to lead diverse units. It also helps them to gain a true appreciation for receiving wide-ranging, diverse thoughts on matters of great importance." -

- 3 In a Class Advisory Senate Meeting on January 16, 2024, BG Marks answered a question about how the students could create an atmosphere of dignity and respect, and Marks emphasized DEI training and that it was imperative for cadets to understand that they would be exposed to diversity in their future commands. They required 16 hours of DEI training over 4 years at USAFA.
- 4 Marks changed the honor code to be "developmental." Essentially, not requiring 1st and 2nd year students to be held accountable for reporting honor violations, sanctions would only apply to 3rd and 4th year students. "We came to the realization we needed to revamp our code, or the practice of it, so that it resembled the developmental journey," Marks said.
