Admiral Christopher Grady

Vice Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff

Retired: September 2025
Posted: April 22, 2025
⚠ Key Findings
  • 1 When he was in charge of US Fleet Forces Command he put out an order that prohibited service members from attending indoor religious services. A clear violation of religious freedom.
  • 2 Yet just a few weeks after his order regarding religious services, Grady posted a picture with troops in very close proximity at an indoor shooting range.
  • 3 During his confirmation hearing to be Vice-Chair of Joint Chiefs he said that at fleet visits he has important conversations about racism.
  • 4 Grady supports the role of "gender advisers" in the military. He told the U.S. Senate that "The role of a gender adviser is a way to attack a very significant issue, and if confirmed, I look forward to leveraging those advisers who can make me think better and smarter about the issues that you raise," Grady said. "So I look forward to, if confirmed, understanding that ecosystem and helping advance that cause going forward."
