Posted: July 3, 2025
- Authored two multi-page statements, one in 2023 and one in 2024, as a part of a presentation on behalf of the Department of the Air Force to the Senate Personal Committee on Armed Services.
- 2024 Report: Concerning Statements:
- “To maintain our competitive advantage, we must acquire and retain civilian talent. This year, the DAF established Human Capital Management Guiding Principles to focus on our priorities in talent acquisitions and foster agility and innovation. The principles are: Recognize the Civilian Force as Integral to the Total Force, Prioritize Capability, Relentless Pursuit of Competitive Advantage, Enable DAF Leadership Vision, Embrace IT Modernization, Collaborate Across Services, Uphold Professional Standards, Prioritize Airmen and Families’ Well-Being and Promote Diversity”
- 2023 Report: Concerning Statements
- “The Air Force is keenly aware of our recruiting challenges. We are pulling all available levers: growing enlistment incentives, increasing public affairs and marketing campaigns, expanding diversity and inclusion efforts, and making quality of life and service enhancements”
- “DAF implemented a dual track “Civilians We Need” career model, identifying the need for functional experts and enterprise leaders. This model will help our civilian Airmen and Guardians plan their job experiences, education, training, and leadership opportunities to meet their professional goals. This dual-track civilian career model also promotes greater diversity and inclusiveness and enhances retention.”
- In 2020 Miller hosted and participated in a roundtable discussion “Tough Conversations” at the behest of Lloyd Austin to combat “extremist” ideologies.
- During the roundtable she is on the record saying, “One of the goals for this wing is to be the best installation in the Department of Defense,” Miller said. “The only way we can do that is if we truly, truly have a diverse workgroup that is respected and valued at all levels.”
- She would host the same event, under the same name in 2021. Here, her commitment to DEI promotion is more evident.
- “We will not tolerate actions that go against the fundamental principles of the oath we share,” Miller said, “There is no place in our Air Force for extremist or dissident ideologies.”
- “Diversity makes us stronger as a unit and is true to our culture,”
- “Working in diverse teams opens up a dialogue that we must continue to have.”
