- Benitez’ title was formerly Chief Diversity Officer until it was rebranded.
- She planned West Point’s 2023 controversial Diversity & Inclusion Leadership Conference. The theme was “The Intersection of Diversity, Innovation, and National Defense.”
- She received an award in 2021 for being a “Diversity Champion.
- On a LinkedIn post, Benitez discussed affinity clubs that were eliminated under Trump’s executive order. She says:
- “I was placed on a status that does not allow me to advocate for them.”
- “Efforts are underway for these clubs to reapply with new missions statements and purposes that are in line with new guidelines. It pains me to see the effects of this on the cadets who were active members of these clubs. Our clubs are an integral part of the character development of our cadets.”
- “Our robust DCA clubs made/make us better leaders and they are privately funded.”
- In a podcast with Herman Bulls, she discusses a Minority Visitation Program that contributed to an increase in black representation at West Point. Also discusses the importance of West Point Board being chosen by race.
- Regarding DEI in admissions, in a podcast, Benitez admits (10:20) that West Point had race goals.
